After graduating from the University of Michigan, Joon Kim spent a year as a high school teacher in an underserved community in Chicago. He then relocated to upstate New York for medical school at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, earning his MD in 2020. While pursuing his degree, he was president of his class, worked as a TA for anatomy lab, and presented and published on both surgical oncology and vascular surgery projects. His clinical interests include Colorectal and Minimally Invasive Surgery, as well as surgical outcomes. 

In his free time, Joon enjoys to spend his time golfing, running, and discovering new coffee shops.
